Be a part of a creation exhibited at several events MADD Nebraska participates in annually. A “Celebration of Life” quilt was created and put on view at the Nebraska State Capitol for Victims’ Rights Week and at the Nebraska State Fair last fall. The quilt was well received at both locations.
MADD Nebraska is extremely excited about creating a companion quilt. You too can be a part of this. We ask that you begin with a 9 x 9, 100 % cotton square. You can decorate this square with quilting, embroidery, painting, permanent marker anyway you would like to honor your loved one. The completed square will be 8 x 8. The seamstress will need to have a ¼ - inch border on all sides for the sewing margin. As the Victim Advocate, I understand that not everyone is comfortable with crafts, but maybe you have a family member, neighbor, church member, or friend that would welcome the chance to help you create your memory quilt square. Your piece will become one of many to be displayed with honor and pride for all victims and survivors of this violent crime.
We are receiving quilt squares all year round. Our next quilt will be completed when we receive 25 squares. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact the State Office. MADD Nebraska, 145 North 46th Street, Lincoln, NE 68503 – 402-434-5330 or 800-444-6233.
