Aaron Houston

“May 15, 1984... A day I will always remember. It is the day my son, Aaron was born. Nineteen years later, it’s the day I put flowers on my son’s grave. No birthday, no party or cake, no candles, only tears. Aaron’s dreams, and mine, were shattered July 4th, 2002 when he died from an alcohol-related crash. I was very impressed with Aaron's best friend that got married on August 30, 2008......he and his wife were classmates of Aaron's. They asked me in early July if it was OK with me to honor Aaron at their wedding. So, on the program, Aaron was listed as an honorary groomsman. After the ceremony they released balloons into the air (we did that at the cemetery at Aaron's funeral) and then at the reception, they left an empty seat with flowers and a champagne glass at the head table. Then when they were giving toasts, the bride stood up & explained to everyone about the empty seat.....what a tear-jerker!!! After the toasts, they played a slide-show and they included a bunch of pictures of Aaron in it..........Then, just when I thought they couldn't possible do anything more to honor him, they presented me with an engraved vase with flowers in it that said "In loving memory -- A Life and Love Remembered."
