MADD Nebraska and our partners have a critical role in sustaining our mission. Through the Heart of MADD Nebraska, Corner to Corner, and Partners & Corporate Sponsorship, we gratefully acknowledge the contribution of volunteers and sponsors across the state who dedicate their time and support, and/or provide financial donations to support our mission and make Nebraska communities a safe place to live.
The Heart of MADD recognizes those individuals that truly understand the devastating consequences of drunk driving and take the next step to ensure that no one else in their community or state has to go through what they endured. This month, MADD Nebraska is proud to highlight the outstanding efforts of Lorraine Erdmann.
In April 2002, Lorraine Erdmann and her family lost their daughter Ariana to an alcohol-related crash. Lorraine and her husband Keith, from Crofton, Nebraska, share the story of Ariana’s life and the circumstances that cut her life short by traveling and speaking at schools, community gatherings, and other events around the state. They have also established a scholarship in Ariana’s name for seniors pursuing a science or medical related degree at Crofton High School.
In Corner to Corner, MADD Nebraska identifies individuals and organizations throughout the state who have devoted their time and support to sustaining our mission. This month, MADD Nebraska is pleased to recognize the efforts of Kurt Muhle and Mary Betten.
Kurt Muhle has been a passionate volunteer for MADD over the last eight years. Kurt helped Burt County organize a local chapter, has been on the State Operations Council, and currently is being trained to be a MADD Volunteer Victim Advocate in the Greater Omaha area. Thanks to Kurt for his longstanding support to help MADD achieve our mission.
Mary Betten continues to serve in Lancaster County as a volunteer and an advocate. Mary will be going to training to become a MADD Volunteer Victim Advocate. Additionally, Mary has been a steadfast volunteer over the last four years at chapter activities and the Lancaster Victim Impact Panels.
AAA: The American Automobile Association (AAA) helps sustain MADD Nebraska’s mission by striving to make sure our roadways are secure and enjoyable for the public. AAA has long supported efforts to reduce alcohol related injuries and fatalities. The association provides a variety of educational materials and programs to enhance the public’s awareness about drinking and driving and sponsors designated driver programs and holiday campaigns. AAA also supports legislative efforts at the local, state, and national level to combat drunk driving and alcohol related issues. Thank you to AAA for your continued support of MADD and the Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving.
