Drunk Driver Arrested after Near Miss with Patrol Unit
(Lincoln, NE)- A traffic stop on Sunday, January 18, 2009, resulted in the arrest of a Lincoln woman for Driving While Intoxicated, after the vehicle she was driving narrowly missed a Nebraska State Patrol car, before crashing into a cement culvert.
Shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2009, a trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol Headquarters Troop-Lincoln was conducting a traffic stop at mm 397, eastbound Interstate 80 when an eastbound SUV slide sideways on the shoulder nearly missing the Patrol car, before sliding into the south ditch and striking a cement culvert. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene of the accident on foot running south toward the Capitol Beach residential area. A short time later, the driver of the vehicle was located by the Lincoln Police Department at 11th and Charleston streets, in Lincoln and returned to the scene of the crash.
After being transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, the driver, 25-year-old Janae Blahak, (DOB 3-4-83) of Lincoln, was lodged in the Lancaster County Jail on charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Driving Under Suspension, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Reckless Driving, Possession of Marijuana less than an Ounce, No Proof of Insurance, and Driving on the Shoulder.
