(Lincoln, NE)- The Nebraska State Patrol arrested 193 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol during the “You Drink & Drive. You Lose.” campaign. The campaign was a nationwide effort to crack down on impaired drivers during the holiday season.
The “You Drink & Drive. You Lose.” enforcement included the heavily traveled Christmas and New Year’s time periods. Troopers and dispatchers put in overtime hours on weekends throughout the enforcement period (December 5, 2008-January 4, 2009). Overtime funding for the special enforcement effort was provided by a more than $27,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS).
