Honor/Tribute Event Coordinator
MADD Victim Services offers many ways for victims/survivors to remember and honor those killed or injured in impaired driving crashes. Special events volunteers assist in planning, organizing, and implementing of special events for victims/survivors. Skills/Training Requirements: completion of MADD orientation, good organizational skills, ability to communicate effectively, reliable transportation and comfortable approaching community vendors to procure products and services for event and working with community partners.


Victim Impact Panel Coordinator
Victim Impact Panels (VIPs) allow victims/survivors an opportunity to heal by sharing their personal stories of bereavement, injuries, and loss with an audience of receptive participants. Volunteer VIP Coordinators play an important part in healing to reduce future victimizations through presenting effective VIPs, which educate participants to the hazards of impaired driving and motivate participants to make responsible decisions about drinking and driving in the future. Skills/Training Requirements: background check, completion of MADD orientation, good organizational skills, ability to communicate effectively, non-judgmental attitude when working with people convicted of alcohol related offenses, reliable transportation and flexible schedule as most panels are held in the evenings.


Trained Volunteer Victim Advocate
Victim Advocates are responsible for providing victim services to victims/survivors of impaired driving crashes who may be in need of crisis intervention, emotional support, practical guidance, community referrals, and support groups. Services are delivered in person, by telephone, and in writing. Skills/Training Requirements: background check, ability to communicate effectively, reliable transportation and completion of Beginning Victim Assistance Training Institute (24 hours).


Support Group Facilitator
Volunteer support group facilitators are responsible for providing direct victim services to victims/survivors of impaired driving by way of support group facilitation. Volunteer support group facilitators do not conduct therapy or counseling. Rather, they provide group coordination, gather needed materials, review exercises when applicable, attend to the pace of each session, and offer emotional support. Skills/Training Requirements: background check, ability to communicate effectively, reliable transportation and completion of Beginning Victim Assistance Training Institute (24 hours).


Outreach and Communications Specialist
Many communities are unaware of MADD Victim Services and how MADD helps victims/survivors of impaired driving. Outreach and communication specialists help to enhance community awareness of MADD Victim Services. By building relationships, educating the community, and connecting community members with needed services, volunteers help to solidify the presence of MADD Victim Services in all communities, thereby ensuring that victims/survivors receive the support they need. Skills/Training Requirements: completion of MADD orientation, good organizational skills, ability to communicate effectively, reliable transportation, and comfortable approaching community organizations to establish and strengthen networks.
