The MADD Nebraska Court Monitoring Program is part of a state-wide coordinated effort to hold the criminal courts system accountable for the adjudication of DUI cases. MADD Nebraska advocates for swift and equitable treatment for all DUI cases.

How It Works

The MADD Nebraska Court Monitoring Program has three goals:

  1. Compile pertinent information on how DUI court cases are handled from county to county.
  2. Share mutual concerns about the outcomes of criminal cases with professionals in the legal arena.
  3. Report information gathered by trained volunteers to relevant entities and community members to ensure the system can be maintained and improved.

To achieve these goals, MADD sends trained volunteers to observe court procedures and collect pertinent information in DUI cases. Some of the information collected includes offense type, age and gender of the offender, and sanctions imposed. The data are then analyzed and reported out to relevant entities in the community, such as law enforcement, county attorneys, probation, and community coalitions.

Where do we monitor?

MADD Nebraska is currently monitoring county courts in eight counties:

  • Adams
  • Gage
  • Hall
  • Lancaster
  • Otoe
  • Saline
  • Sarpy
  • Saunders
