Community Action Sites

Currently MADD Nebraska has a Community Action Site (CAS) in the Greater Omaha Area and is in the process of organizing other priority communities.

What is a CAS?
A CAS is not just a group of mothers. We are a group of like-minded fathers, brothers, sisters, children, aunts, uncles, friends, loved ones, and concerned citizens committed to sustaining MADD Nebraska’s mission to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking.

What does a CAS do?
CAS members volunteer their time as change agents in their community by supporting MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving. They take on leadership roles by participating and/or speaking at high schools, victims advocate events, and civic groups, and support policy initiatives at the local and state level to promote the health and safety of their community.

How can I join a CAS in my area?
To join a CAS in your area, simply contact the State Office by email at info.nebraska@madd.org or by phone at 402-434-5330 or 1-800-444-6233 to receive a volunteer application.

How can I start a CAS in my area?
A CAS site is started by bringing together a group of like-minded individuals interested in supporting MADD’s mission. To start a CAS:

1. Express your interest to family, friends, and neighbors.
2. Contact the State Office by email at info.nebraska@madd.org or by phone at 402-434-5330 or 1-800-444-6233 to receive volunteer application forms for all interested individuals.
3. Complete applications and return them to the State Office.
4. The MADD Nebraska Leadership Committee reviews the applications and notifies the applicants of their approval within 14 days of their receipt of the applications.
5. Identify individuals interested in leadership positions.
6. Once a leader is in place, the CAS can begin to have regular meetings with community volunteers and plan for activities (i.e. Tie One On For Safety, High-Visibility Checkpoints, Roll Call Briefings). Staff will provide support during the initial phases of activity development.
7. Communicate monthly with the State Office to discuss progress and concerns.
8. Turn in quarterly activity reports to the State Office.
